The Smurfs is a 2011 American 3D family film based on The Smurfs comic book series created by the Belgian comic artist Peyo. It was released on July 29, 2011. It was directed by Raja Gosnell and the main actors/characters are as follows:

  • Jonathan Winters as Papa Smurf.
  • Katy Perry as Smurfette.
  • Anton Yelchin as Clumsy Smurf
  • George Lopez as Grouchy Smurf.
  • Frank Welker as Azrael, Gargamel’s cat.

  • Alan Cumming as Gutsy Smurf
  • Jeff Foxworthy as Handy Smurf
  • Paul Reubens as Jokey Smurf
  • Gary Basaraba as Hefty Smurf
  • John Oliver as Vanity Smurf
  • Kenan Thompson as Greedy Smurf
  • B. J. Novak as Baker Smurf

When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble out of their magical world into New York City. With Gargamel chasing them for his magic potion and Azreal wanting to eat them, the Smurfs must find a way to beat him before he kills Papa Smurf and destroy the Smurf village once and for all.

 

I believe this animated movie is a great family comedy. The Smurfs will likely be the best, most enjoyable kid film of 2011 because of their misadventures. I think everyone should watch it because it is smurfing awesome and because it is lively, colourful and adventurous. I give this film a star rating of:
